i have an e-36 and the heat is very peculiar, it's a long story, but i am sure i am not the only beamer owner to deal with this. if you can help me fix this, AWESOME, otherwise i may have to go to stealership and bend over.
the car will slowly warm up, then exceed the half way mark on the temp guage, once it gets to about 3/4 or even a little more THEN it will drop down to the normal "half-half" of the heat range. until it does this there is 0 heat in the car. once this happens i smell a tiny bit of coolant, and then the heat comes out. the heat is only consistent at freeway speeds. if i am driving city, then the heat is intermittent/weak, and the temp guage will climb a little as i am sitting in traffic. it will always go back down once i start to drive.
thats the problem, here are some more details. the thermostat/water pump/radiator are all just 1 year old. not to say these parts couldn't be an issue, but they are all pretty new, so i don't think it could be. (unless they are cheap OEM eurotrash parts:mad:)
i have heard about people replacing/back flushing there heater cores, i think that would solve the heat issues, but what about the OVERHEATING issues? this was happening yesterday while i drove. about 38 degrees out side, driving at about 55 mph. ???
anyway any help would be great. please let me know.
