Hi Everyone,
I'm new to the forum and am looking at an '05 545i with 14k miles without the Sports Package certified for $ 42,500 versus an '06 530i with Sports Package certified with 18k miles for $ 45,500.

Besides the price issue, I really enjoyed the 545i power and ride and am leaning towards that however the BMW dealer selling the 530i insisted it's rare to get a 545i without the Sports Package. At this point, I'm still leaning towards the 545i but have reservations.

Two Questions:

1) Does this seem like a fair price for the 545i? Options include Cold Weather, Xenon, and Park Distance Control

2) While the 530i has more options, is it true what the dealer is saying about the Sports Package?

thanks

I'm not sure about the price. Before I purchased my 2007 bmw 530 sport; I researched the used 5 series market. In my experience, it was rare to find any 5 series, with the sport package. I think most car enthusiasts, like the bimmerfest board, perfer the sport package. But I think in the real world, the majority of the car buyers, purchase there cars, without the sport package.

Humpty123:

I have a 2006 530i, 6-speed, Sports Package, Premium, Comfort Seats, Shades, etc. with about 12K miles that I will be looking to sell in the next 2-3 months (in process of firming up E93 order). I work/live in Reston.....let me know if you may be interested!

Cheers,

At my local dealer they had a '05 545 with the sport package and NAV and 33K miles that they were willing to sell for $40,000, non-certified.

more than half the exprience of having a 5 series is to get the sport pgk. dont know what the dealer is saying but in this case i would believe him. most of the time the extra power is unusable, but the suspension is always in need. having had the 545 i can talk about the little need for that kind of power. traded it in last oct for 45000. besides the 530 has sufficient hp at 250.

I have an '05 545i with 30K miles, Nav, Logic 7 and w/o sport package that I was recently offered $38.5K for on a trade, so I think the pricing you quote is fair. (Xenon and PDC are standard features on the 545i, not options though.) I've always had a little regret that I didn't buy the sport package, but it still has a tighter ride than any non-BMW on the road. That being said, there is a huge difference between the V8 and the 6 cylinder, performance wise. My 2 cents: go with the 545i.

I don't have the sports package and refuse to believe that after 23 months and 40,000 miles I've missed "more than half of the exprience [sic]."
