I'm looking at a used 2006 x3. It has everything except for the xenon headlight. Is it possible to upgrade to xenon? Dealer is not calling back.

Possible? Yes. Worth the cost? No. I've heard people talk about this upgrade and most of them have gotten price quotes around $4000 with labor.

Sorry bro, there's a lot more involved than just replacing a bulb.

That sounds about right. There is no "Xenon headlight" option as such. The adaptive headlights are Xenon, turn with the steering of the vehicle, are self-leveling, and have a separate flashing mode for the QI inner lamps.

You always have the option of retro-fitting bulbs and ballasts on your own, if that is all you want.

i wanted the same option on my 07 X3, but the price tag doesnt seem like its worth it..but I found a bulb that is xenon gas filled that will not burn the housing..its only 55watts and not really hot to create issues. It produces 4000k, which is not bad, better than halogens

www.rallylights.com, get the Hella H7 XB or XPs...and it will not burn out quickly like PIAAs..

im going with these...also the H11 fogs..last for about 2000 hours, not bad if I say so myself.

h7 bulbs go for 12 dollars a piece...

Skip the angel eyes and adaptive feature, buy the right and left xenon headlight housing, and then pick up a reliable retrofit ballasts and bulbs kit. Your total $ should be less than a thousand at most. Make sure the retro kit doesnt trip the fault codes for bulb failures.

SFX3..

That sound good too. Where is can I get that? And if I get the xenon headlight from BMW, can I still install them without the adaptive feature working?

Dont buy the headlight housing from BMW....that will drive up the cost tremondously. Look for it locally at junk yards, ebay, craigslist, body shops, etc...

That sounds about right. We used to have 2006 330i and someone tried to run a redlight and in the process peeled off our front bumper which threw the xenons so much out of whack that they had to be replaced - approx $1500 EACH!
