and I'll probably reserve a 2008 model.

I do not want many option packages.
Remaining 5 series are mostly with nearly full options.
Even if we have good MF and residuals, it seems to be better off reserving
2008.....
because 2008 models at similar price has much better engine.

For example, rather than getting 2007 530i with unwanted options,
I get 2008 528i which is cheaper but has same HP as 2007 530i
(although it will have higher lease rate..)

Am I right ? or there's still some advantages of getting 2007 with high # of options...

Anyway, it's not a good time to do automobile shopping....

GOOD DECISION, That's is the way to go for Luxury cars
I always go for custom order, I get color choice, looks and options I want
One has to wait , That's fine with me

The '08 528i doesn't have the same power as the 255hp '07 530i. It does have slightly more horsepower than the 04-05 530i (230hp vs 225hp) but slightly less torque (200 vs 214). Overall the 528i will be a tad slower than the old M54 530i and noticeably slower than the N52 530i, but still not a huge difference.

A wrench just got thrown into my ED plans, so I might have to either delay until CY08 if my piece of crap Nissan will hold together, or go with a CPO E60. :tsk:

I've found this to be a great time to shop for "leftovers." Keep looking and check a lot of dealers (or have your preferred dealer get online and see what else is around).

The motor in the 528 is "much better" than the motor in the 530??

Its the same motor but just tuned a bid different.

The 528 will be just fine.

I ordered mine in late December and got what I wanted (just premium, Comfort seats, Logic, and a MT) which I never would have found. Got my colors also!

But the kicker was the lease deal they still have and its a killer of a deal.

The 530 motor is still a bit more powerful than the 528. The front bumper of the 08' is just a tad less agressive looking, the door panels I think on the 08' are not as nice as the 530. The rocker sills are improved and the LED tails are nice improvements, but not worth the extra money alone.

Now I would do a comparison and see if your just gonna get a loaded car for what an 08 will likely cost. I understand and agree these cars fully loaded are not good values when 5-10k of technology is added. They become "lexuses"!

But there is but so much you'll be able to negotiate off.

THere is a reason fully loaded cars are left over!

If you are going to deal - now is the time. Its last week of March, end of Q1, and end of the model run. Dealers want to move the '07s.

I agree with Bargamon. I like my cars to look more aggressive. The ideal combination: front bumper of the '07, side skirts of the '08, trunk lid and rear bottom of the '07, LEDs from the '08. I wonder if they moved to LEDs for the license plate area as well in '08.

the better deal will definitely come on an 07. you can find what you want but you might have to do the looking. a dealer isn't going to want to bring in a car from somewhere else for you when they can get you on a new 2008.
