Just bought a CPO '05 545i with only 7,100 miles out of state and after about 7 hours on the road towards home, at the first stop light off the exit the Increased Emmissions Warning appeared as well as the Service Engine Soon light. I had put gas in the car about 3 hours prior to this. Three days later the Increased Emmissons warning appears everytime I start the car and the Service Engine light remains on.

The dealer I purchased the car from thinks it's due to the gas cap letting air in however the cap securely locks into place and it can't be human error since you hear the cap "click" into the locked position. I'm taking it to my local dealer Monday but has anyone experienced this before so I can be somewhat educated before the appt on Monday? thanks

The cap could have been loose prior to you getting the car. The warning doesn't show up right away. It took several days before my warning came on.
