View Full Version : Angel iBright 2.0 not working at all on my car

KCComp

I got the Angel iBright (angelbright.com) units and they don't work at all on my E63 with a build date of 03/06. They won't turn on at all. Tried various combinations of turning on/off the lights, car, etc. and not even a flicker. I guess they're incompatible with my car.

EDIT: the angelbright guys say to try reversing the polarity by removing the endcaps on the units and turning them 180 degrees, trying that now

Yep, reversing the endcaps did the trick. They should include a little note in the package. Looking good!

There aren't to many decent mods for the 6's anyway. Maybee one of the angelbrite people hop on.

Did they fix the glitches?

1. Static on AM/FM when lights are on
2. AngelBrites flash in unison with the bong in the car when the key is left in. I noticed this the last time I was at the dealer. :dunno:

I would check them out good. The amount of testing on lighting is very limited by these small outfits. They do not test every model/build.

Actually, I had never heard of those two issues, but they address both on their website. It seems both problems have been fixed.

I actually opened the hood today, and I can't imagine how this install would take 10 minutes. I can't even SEE the headlights...let alone get to them. To these un-trained eyes...it looks like quite a job!

I tried to call this company, but every time I call...I get a machine asking me to leave a message.

I swear i remember reading on another board that these lights have caused fires in the past. I remember seeing a pic of a completely destroyed M3 that burned for hours inside the owner's garage while he was at work. The cause of the fire was his after market angel eyes.

Steve,

I am very interested in having these installed. Which brand do you have and were they installed locally?

Thanks

Bearman,
I actually don't have them installed my friend. I was contemplating it, but after reading about a bmw owner's car burning to a crisp because of them i decided not to go for it. :)

I don't know anything about this kit, but I do have recent experience installing enhanced lighting on two of my other cars. I bought and installed a Euro OEM (Hella) angel eye assembly for my E39. The installation (involving some rewiring) was far more involved than claimed, but the result is terrific. The lighting is great, but more importantly, it made the front of the car look better than it did when new.

A somewhat more challenging project was installing HID headlights in my NSX since, in addition to rewiring, the ballasts had to be physically mounted near the pop-up headlight covers. Again, the rewards were well worth the effort.

I should add that both of these mods were done on out-of-warranty cars. Having just had a headlight assembly replaced on the 650 (my only warranty claim to date), I'd hate to give BMW a chance to deny a claim due to an aftermarket part.

Oh, and I'd hate for my $3M garage remodel to be ruined when the newly relit 650 burnt to the ground:hi:

Steve, I will post photos when I finish a few remaining details, eg, getting rid of two wooden workbenches as soon as I can throw away, or give away, all the crap that's lying around on them. The idea was to have everything stored in the new cabs, or hanging on custom slotwall accessories, to make room to park four cars. Well, the cars are now parked, but all the junk that used to be taking up space on the floor is still under a tarp in the driveway. Just received the garage-door battery back-up (thanks to Bear:bow: --a great idea!), so that problem is solved. BTW, I may be off by a few zeros on the $3M estimate:ouch:

I heard that there is a group buy going on over in the M5board. The two issues have not been 100% fixed. There is no longer FM static but some people are still reporting strobing effects of the AIBs when turning on the car. I've seen this happen to a AIB v.20 in person.

One other thing to mention, the customer service is horrendous. They will help you in anyway they can to separate your money from your wallet and once you get the AIBs forget about any sort of post-purchase help. :thumbdwn:

I have the AIB v1.0. I removed them a few weeks back wanting to upgrade to the AIB v2.0 but haven't done so yet. I just didn't feel like dealing with them again.

+1000, the customer service sucks, and they lie. I bought mine and have an email from the owner stating prior to the sale there was no static. He flat out lied to get a sale.

If you look at the web site, the LED's still flash when the car bongs. The site says this is normal. They are so full of it.

Buyer beware. These lights will surely cause electrical issues. The company does not test on every model thoroughly. But then again, none of them do.

Oh, and they offered to upgrade my lights for $100 plus shipping. Awefully nice of them to let me pay another $100 for parts that were suppose to work right to begin with. jerks. Even worse, the OWNER said (when I first mentioned the issues) he would swap me out for free when the update came out. Again, another lie.

From what I can tell, none of the Angel lights are all that bright anyway. Yes they are brighter than OEM, but it really is no big deal. No one even commented on mine. :dunno: A nice gimmick at best.

Do your car a favor. JUST SAY NO!

If i had you or Mal's M i wouldn't touch a thing. No rims, no suspension, hell even no tint. Tint film adds at least 1lb of dead weight:p Seriously though, if i had an //M6 i'd leave it stock, maybe put on some 20" wheels like you did. I surely wouldn't put 22"s like the one's on my car seeing as how I really wouldn't want to compromise performance on such a race inspired car.

I've had two unqualified successes during the remodel. One was the cabinet and slotwall installation, the other was flooring. For the latter, I went with Liquid Granite (epoxy urethane). The texture is slightly rough (you don't want a slippery surface, especially in a working garage), and the color is grey with black specs which hides dirt and stains quite well. Count on 3-5 days for surface prep, coating, and drying.

Oh, I'll also count my sink as an unqualified success:sabrina:

Actually, you nailed it… I AM an impulse buyer for sure. My chief concern in this instance is not to save a few bucks…it is that I don’t want my M6 going up in smoke, while taking a few of my other cars, as well as my house with it.

I was hoping a group buy would give me added faith in the product since perhaps a few of us would be doing the research on the safety of this specific MOD rather than just one person. So far the stories I have heard fail to foster much confidence in this product, but maybe they are just hearsay.

I don’t know anyone personally that has installed these lights, so the jury is still out on these for me.

So, all I'd need to purchase is the light set or do I need the light set and harness to just use them (I'm not worried about the DRL aspect anymore)? Just want to make sure I order everything I'd need to make em work.
