Seasonal Oil Change?

My mechanic has me on the 4000 mile oil change schedule. However, I put no more than 8000 miles a year on my E32. So is 6 months too long for an oil change on these engines?

The true test is the tried and true napkin test. If your oil is black, you're overdue, if it is dark brown, change it, if it is light brown you're okay.

Changing oil on the e38 is a snap, save yourself some money and do it yourself, if you have the time and the tools.

Eight K miles/year is not very much driving.....
