On some mornings when I first get into the car, the navigation display is really dark. Increasing the brightness control doesnt help much. It gradually improves over the next 10 mins or so. Anyone else experiencing this problem? Do you think the LCD is about to kick the bucket? Unfortuantely, I live more than 10 mins from the dealer. I doubt they will fix a problem that they will claim they cant reproduce.

it's normal for an lcd screen to take time to warm up and get brighter in the process. i'm sure there's more technical info on this out there, but the quickest reference i found was an apple article: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25242

Are your headlights set to Automatic? When the headlights are on the LCD display is dimmed. It could be that it's just dark enough in the morning that your headlights come on when you turn the car on, dimming the LCD, and turn off after 10 minutes of driving once enough light falls on the sensor.

Yeah, Im sure the headlights arent on in the mornings. I tried switching the lights on and off manually but produced no change in brightness on the LCD.

Hopefully, its something that r6girl pointed out. Thanks for that info.

Temperature affects LCD screens. Leave your iPod in the car overnight and its screen will be dark in the morning too.
