on a e39 540 daily driver non track car...

Just curious to see if the ps2's are worth the extra dough. ive been looking into the toyo t1r and the falken fk452 as they seem to get decent reviews too, though might not be "max performance" but "ultra high performance" (honestly is there even a difference...)

also the weight of the ps2's (in particular sizing) makes it a winner, same with the t1r, the goodyear gsd3 and fk452's seem to be a touch heavier. i dont do any track but light it up quite a bit.

fwiw it seems that everyone is always happy with the ps2. most people are happy with the t1r though there are some off complaints about the sidewall and 'snap' steering, though it will be on a 540 which isnt some nimble ninja sqrl or anything. the falken fk452 appear to make people happy but their weight is their only drawback.

anyone have any experience with these or care to comment?

(oh and on a side note anyone have any additional pics of black e39 with black wheels/polished lip they'd like to share. im looking at the asa ar1)

I am considering the Goodyear Eagle F1s and the Falken FK-452. The Falkens are less expensive, but in the sizes I am buying, they are heavier; the front tire is 2 lbs heavier than the Eagle F1. I am leaning toward the Eagles because of the weight.

I had PS2's on my 540 (sold) and I absolutely loved them. I had considered gsd3's, but after reading review after review for months, I went with the PS2's. Get the PS2's and don't look back.

i ended up getting ps2's but the odd thing is they seem to weigh more than 'advertised'. the 235/40/18 with a 18x8 asa ar1 wheel weigh 48 lbs instead of the 44 they should be according to tirerack's weights listed. oh well im still breakin the ps2's in but im excited to see how they do.

i figured i'd start with these as a basepoint and try others in the future.

If you need an all-season tire I highly recommend the Toyo Proxes 4.

Nobody seems to mention Bridgestone S-O3s anymore, those tires seemed amazing to me, better than my Eagle F1s.

Track guys like the Toyo T1Rs for the track and rain grip, but I don't know if that's a good daily driving tire.

PK8, how were your PS2s in the rain? One attribute of the GSDs that I was attracted to was their wet performance. Thanks.

from what ive read it seemed like the t1r is popular for cost but has some sort of "snap in" feeling, though it becomes predictable (some describe a soft sidewall).

as for ps2 rain ive read its a touch behind the gsd3 but its somewhat subjective if you ask me. so far the ps2's are solid for me but im still under 100 miles on em :P

oh yeah the s03s seem to be phased out with the re050's i think?
