Buying winter tires - timing

Okay, so I just picked up my new 335i with ZHP. I was planning on using the stock 18" rims and putting winter tires for the winter, and get a new set of 18" CSL reps in the spring and put the summer sport tires on the CSL reps. Now, my wife asked me this question, since we have a storage spot at a local tires shop and have the money to purchase winter tires at any time:

When are the best prices to purchase winter tires?

I would think the summer is the best time, but in the winter you usually see a lot of specials.

Tirerack generally has winter tires on sale after the winter season. You'll get last year's model, but who cares.
