View Full Version : Advice On Purchasing 1999 M3?

I test drove a black, convertible 1999 M3 today. It's only got 51,000 miles on it and seems to be in great condition. The guy who's selling it wants $18500 for it, but I think I can get him down to $17000. The car has one odd sound; I'm not exactly sure what it is but I'm going to take it to a mechanic first to check it out. Also, there's some cracking in the leather, and when I put the top down, I have to be careful about how I do it, otherwise the back of it slightly clips the trunk. Can anyone tell me...WOULD THIS BE A GOOD BUY? Is this something that I'll probably have to invest a lot of money in over the next 3 years or so to keep it running? My grandfather owns 3 BMW's, including a pair of 750iL's, but I'm just getting into them...this would be my first BMW. I would greatly appreciate any advice! Thanks! Welcome to the fest

Best people to ask this would be the guys and gals on the E36 M3 forum

They have a better honed knowledge of the M3 beast

Here is the link - http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=106

Good luck and post us some pics if you get it :)

Hey thanks for the directing me to the correct forum. I could have sworn I posted on the E36 forum, but apparently I didn't.

This is the E36 forum matey, but Bimmerfest have a dedicated board for the E36 M3 :)

You are, of course, always welcome here though
