View Full Version : Weights on the rims

Hi Gary,

I drive a 2004 330ci. The stock rims came with those ugly little square weights.

I just had some Bridgestone Fusion ZRI tires put on the car and noticed that the weights are gone. The guy at the shop said that they put new weights inside the tire. Is this okay or should I go back and have them put the factory weights back on?

The new way looks better but I'm more interested in performance.

Thanks,

Ted.

I didn't know anyone still clipped the weights onto the rim of the wheel. Stick on ones on the inside of the wheel look much nicer.

They do look much nicer.

My concern is that they came from the factory on the outside. And I'm wondering if I should be concerned that they got moved to the inside.

Any thoughts?

My '03 never had the weights on the outside of the rim. Maybe the previous owner had the wheels rebalanced at sears or something?

Both methods work well, but the weights on the inside certainly look better IMO.

Gary and everyone who responded,

Thanks for all of your feedback. I'm feeling much better about this now. It just surprised me that the wheel place would change something and not tell the customer about it.

Next time I need tires, I'm buying from Tiretrack and letting a BMW specialist take care of it.

It's a beautiful day here in Southern California. Hope you all have a great ride.

Ted.
