Well, my girlfriend just dropped her Mini off for some emergency service -- the radiator has sprung a leak with ~7k miles on the car.

The worst part was that it happened (became noticable) on a business trip on Monday -- about half way through a 5-hour drive, she stopped to take a break. When she came back to the car, the fan was still running and temp guage was on hot before she started it back up (normal before she stopped). She waited for it to cool down and checked the coolant level -- needed about 3 cups to be full. She kept driving it, watching the temp guage and topped it off again yesterday -- only needed a cup or so.

I hope they have parts in stock...

When I read the thread title I thought it was the power steering, they are known to blow those

The coolant tank is the number one reported problem with the new MINI

Yup... coolant tank it was. I just talked to my girlfriend as she was picking it back up -- they replaced the coolant tank and checked/tightened all the coolant hose fittings. They also updated the ECU software for the cold start problem (which we tried getting fixed a couple months ago, but they didn't have the hardware needed to flash the ECU).

Occasionally, the car will stall after the first deceleration on a cold day. A little extra gas and some revs and it doesn't repeat itself.
