I have greatly enjoyed this site and look forward to taking delivery of my first BMW next week. My wife and I are flying to Munich to pick up an E93 with the following configuration: Platinum Bronze / Saddle / Light Poplar / 6 Speed Manual / Nav / HD / iPod / Sport / Premium / Cold Weather (despite being in Florida) / Active Steering (despite the debate on Bimmerfest).

This vehicle should nicely complement our 1971 Datsun 240Z (4 speed coupe - virtually NOTHING electronic).

We fly into Munich and drop off in Geneva two weeks later. I am also a watch collector, so this trip will combine two of my passions: sports cars and wristwatches!

Thanks to all for the great advice (and for your entertaining and passionate expression of opinions).

Welcome, from across the bay! We were in your shoes in October of '05, picking up our first Bimmer in Munich. You are in for a wonderful experience. I, for one, believe that you made a great choice in selecting the Active Steering. Hit those switchbacks in the Alps and you will see what I mean. Have a great trip and be sure to post your report ASAP. :beerchug:
