Hey-

So I was finally reunited with my 2003 330ci after 6 weeks. For those who haven't read Part I of my report (also in this forum), it's a 2003 Titanium Silver 330Ci with SP, Xenons, Nav, Myrtle Wood, PDC, and Step purchased through ED, with a dropoff at the Munich EH Harms on Dec. 16th. Check out that post, as I actually have pics on that one.

So, I got out of the hospital at around 8:30 a.m. this morning, and rushed to the bus station. This is my very first new car, so I had to take a bus to my dealership, which is about 90 miles away. After being on call last night, I chose to sleep on the bus. At the Springfield bus station I heard some bits and pieces about the Columbia tragedy. My heart goes out to the 7 astronauts, and their families... They will be in my thoughts. It dampened my spirits, and I felt guilty for my excitement under the circumstances. But I guess this is the wrong forum to express my thoughts on that matter...

So, my client advisor, Bob Morin from Wagner BMW in West Springfield, MA picked me up in a beautiful red 330i. This is actually the first time I met him. He had been always courteous and generous with his time for the past several months... a great salesman, who gave me a great deal on a great car. :) Highly recommended.

The car was perfect. The M wheel from Cutter that I had sent to the dealership had already been installed, and the car had been beautifully detailed. The floormats also made it to stateside. Bob spent about 40 mins going over the functions of the car, but I couldn't wait to drive it.

Before I left, we discovered the glove compartment flashlight had been RIPPED OFF. Literally, the flashlight and its connectors were forcefully ripped off, marring the inside of the compartment. So for future ED buyers, please remember to take the flashlights, as you may not only lose the flashlight at the port, but the connectors as well. Fortunately, a really knowledgeable technician happened to be available (I think it was actually his day off), who installed a new glove compartment while I waited the extra 30 mins. Imagine if I had driven home and discovered the problem with the glove compartment then? WTF was VPC doing? They had the car for 11 days, and they didn't bother fixing this? Thank goodness for Bob at Wagner BMW.

The drive back to Boston was INCREDIBLE. :D The car handled like a dream, and the NAV is fantastic. I love it, and I highly recommend it to other buyers. I was in an unknown part of Mass., but I felt completely comfortable. Without the NAV, I would've been sweating bullets, trying to find my way home. Instead I was enjoying the beautiful scenery, the sublime engine roar, and the indescribable visceral experience. Oh, and it was hard following the engine break-in guidelines.

So, in summary:

1. If you're in Boston or anywhere in Massachusetts (MA), consider talking to Bob Morin from Wagner BMW in W. Springfield, MA. You can do everything over the phone, fax, and mail. My delivery date was the first time I stepped into the dealership. The pricing is excellent, and the service was stellar.

2. Please don't forget the flashlight. Not only did the thieves take my flashlight, but damaged my glove compartment. I was lucky the dealership had a new black glove compartment available for installation. The tech was wise enough to swap the locks as well, so my keys would work on it.

3. Leave the floormats, as the chances are they will make it. But take the First Aid Kit, and Warning Triangle.

4. If you're contemplating it, get the NAV, and while you're at it, the PDC as well. They are great options I wasn't sure about until I actually used them. Now, I'll want them in all my future vehicles.

5. Drive your car. I'm loving it. I'm trying to make up reasons to go out and drive it. I've already put 100+ miles today. Just a 1100 more, and I can send the engine past 4500 rpm.

Peace out my BMW Bros,
Jeff
