Airbag Burns?

1. Airbags deployed and was burned by airbag.

2. Airbags deployed and was NOT burned by airbag.

I didn't vote on this, because...

- It really depends on the year your car was manufactured.

The company I work for made a significant componet used in airbag manufacture a few years ago.

They stopped building the "burn capable" airbags and moved to "no heat"/"non-explosive" inflation system around 1997.

Our sales to the airbag builders fell flat since our component would help diminish the heat from the blast to inflate the airbag, thus helping to limit the "burn" that could occur.

i got burned by airbags in a 95' toyota camry.. im not sure if they were actually burns, but like red rashes or rash looking things were on my skin after.. it was my first beater car that got totalled by a drunk A$$hole in an old ford taurus.. he had no license and 3 dui's.. did i mention he had no insurance too.. :mad:

Luckily my E46 airbags have never been used, but I had an accident in my 2000 Jetta in which they were deployed. My left forearm was slightly burnt -- perhaps it would have been worse had I not been wearing a sweater, which BTW was noticably singed. The burn didn't require treatment; as DINANISR3 stated, it looked more like a rash than anything else. It disappeared after a week or so.

I am assuming he was locked up for a while?

yea he got arrested that night.. i dont know how long he was in jail for.. but after the guy slammed into me going 50+ when i was stopped.. he tried to run.. but his car wouldnt let him.. i said before.. the guy had nothing.. no money, insurance nothing.. i didnt sue him or anything.. i just lost a car and was sore ass hell.. and my insurance handled it.. a few months later the cops called me and asked me some questions.. and i told them that i saw the guy driving again.. so :dunno: if he got into more trouble..
