Hi everyone. I have a problem with the audio system in my 2002 X5 Sport. Its the double din sat nav tv unit, Alpine I think. Basically I have no audio at all on the passanger side front or rear. Its not the balance control as its set midway. Is this is a common fault with this type of head unit? Output stage failure maybe? Does anyone know how to remove this headunit so I can investigate further. Thanks in advance for replies.

Simon

The problem is very unlikely to be in the actual head unit. With Nav most of the stuff is in the trunk (left hand side), Radio module, Amp, DSP if you have it, CD Changer, TV module, Bluetooth ULF and Nav computer. The 'head unit' is just a pretty dumb tape or CD player with a screen and buttons.

Also, there are occasionally leaks in the left rear corner that affect the amplifier.

On the cars I've worked on the nav computer is where he describes it, near the amp (DSP or non), but the tuner module is under the spare.
