I've read a couple posts with references to DSP, which I assume is Digital Signal Processing, something to give the stereo greater spatial size.
I have a 2003 330xi with the HK system. Is DSP a Europe-only thing? Just curious if I have it and don't know it...
New thought: Is that what that little button by the ashtray with the speaker symbol turns on and off? (The salesman told me it turns off the subwoofer...haven't checked out the manual yet to see what it does...)
E46s do not have any DSP system in any market.
The HK button appears to do something with phase or something in the rear channel. AFAIK nobody's ever bothered trying to figure out exactly what it does.

That button does not turn off the subwoofers. It is explained in the manual, and all it really does it make you feel like you are in a larger area. It sounds like it increases the mid-range levels, especially in the speakers in the drivers door. Personally I think it sounds worse with the button on, because the bass will distort in the door speakers. I leave it off.:dunno:
