So I was having a "shower thought" the other day when I was cleaning my car's ICV (so it was technically a "maintenance thought")...

As I was using just about every word in the book to express my displeasure with the positioning of the M50 ICV and the various obstacles, I was thinking about how much like surgery all of this work was.
Then I got more into it:
I can take care of myself, but the car needs me to take care of it.
I can go to the gym and work out and eat right, but the car is totally dependant on me to "take it to the gym," so to speak.

So! Take your car to the gym and feed it right and give it some vitamins! I'm sure we all take it to the gym ("Spirited Driving" from time to time), but I'm willing to say most of us don't feed the car as well as we should or give it the right supplements (regular fluid changes, the right gas all the time - not just when you have the money).

I just mentioned this in my other post, but I think it's really true:
If any of us haven't been exercizing regularly, not even an expensive pair of shoes will help us run a quicker mile. Similarly, with cars, upgrades and mods mean little to nothing if your engine won't run, so get the sludge out when it should be out, replace/clean your filters when they get old and just keep the car up like it should be kept.

Yeah, it's expensive, but we've all got Bimmers...it's not like we didn't know this before we bought them. Your attention and care for the car will make your car happier with you, and it'll probably help the car be a little more efficient, which saves you money in the long run.

Have that for my first major thought here on the forums...
Sorry for the rant. I hope you enjoyed.

I agree whole heartedly. While my vehicle was very well (dealer) maintained, some items were a bit laxed. The engine bay was filthy, the interior was filthy, etc. etc. most items were well taken care of however and this was the reason why I bought it. MOST owners will never change the diff fluid or tranny fluid while both were done on mine once during it's life. I do plan on changing all the fluids out very soon for Royal Purple. It has been dyno proven with an average of an 8 BHP gain. I've taken care of the leaks, the belts and hoses, and plugs. I've gone so far as to replace items that I felt were needed but were not necessarily needed. So yes, in short TAKE CARE OF YOUR BABY,AND IT WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU!
