Hi bimmerfest members. I have a problem with my 328iC 96' automatic. It all started recently when i was just driving normally down the street and suddently it does this RPM jump to 3,000 and I have no clue whats wrong with it, but I did retrieve some codes from autozone. I also, uploaded a video clip of what i describe. "During the video, I was just driving in a normal speed. and the problem occured when it hits about 35mph." If u guys know the pin point of the problem plz let me know thx. appreciated. Probably taking my gf's car non-bmw to the fest...=/ just a quick note, my car was driving fine even when i had these 02 sensor codes.

Computer Codes.
1. P0133 = O2 Sensor Slow Response (bank 1 sensor 1)
2. P0173 = Fuel Trim Malfunction (Bank2)
3. P0170 = Fuel Trim Malfunction (Bank1)
4. P0153 = O2 Sensor Slow Response (bank2 sensor 2)

Sounds like your car isn't having good times in the fuel injection department. If it wasn't doing it before when you pulled the codes, it might've just gotten worse. Have a look at the O2 sensors. Fixing or replacing the O2 sensor problem might fix it up.

We had this problem once with an auto Ford Granada [that was when I first met hubby - he was not a bimmer fan back then - until I converted him and he saw the light

It would 'surge' like yours. The only real problem with that is if you are going along a slow speed and it surges like that the car could lunge forward and cause an accident! It also makes it virtually impossible to park the damn thing!!

One problem with this is that if you are going along at slow speeds the car can lurch forward causing an accident. Also parking can be a nightmare because you have to park using the accelerator and brake at the same time to stop it landing up onto of the car in front:doh:

Never found out what it was though so we sold the damn thing:mad:

she start and idle pretty fine, today I've tried something different with the A/M button by the shift box. When it was on M, the problem went away, but the bad thing is that the RPM is set higher and my accelleration is very slow compare to "A", but then again the rev 3k at 35mph occurs with A.

thx guys w/ the feedback
