Hello knowledgeable ones,

I am about to buy a 2004 525 or 530. What should I beware of? And, which one would you prefer?

I have never owned a BMW (Acura's in the past) and am new to bimmerfest. I am considering an extended maint and warrnty. I know this has been discussed over and over but with conflicting views..... Where specifically can I get a reliable extended warranty that will actual cover items? I am pretty much sold on the mainten. warranty.

Thanks, I really appreciate any input.

Get the 530.

If you buy a CPO car, the warranty is pretty comprehensive. There may be other thrid party warranties that are decent, but I like going to any dealer and being taken care of there. You can also extend maintenance for 6/100k for like $1800 I think, through BMW.

IMHO, 530 is good, 525 is slow, sluggish and underpowered ,and therefore more of a bargain as a used car.

go for the 530i - more power and std options. also, get the service history from the dealer.
