"BMW has already “in works” the next instalment of their successful executive saloon. Several test mules have been spotted, pointing that a production ready 5 Series is to be released in the next three or four years. The current BMW 5 Series is around for more than 4 years, meaning that it is well in its middle age, and needing a successor around the year 2010. The next generation 5-Series will grow in overall length, by extending the wheelbase nearly 3 inches and widening the track, so will be bigger then the actual one..."

This is from a new review on the 2010 BMW 5-Series, from TopSpeed. You can read about it's performance, design, as well as other features. Also available is a video and picture gallery.

I love that every BMW concept I've been seeing on the web lately (3 & 5) looks like the bmw CS. I doubt that they will go for 4-door coupe in this segment, as the midsize 5 sedan is one of their bread and butter models.

How about working on the cars so they're as reliable as Lexus, Honda, Infiniti, etc. rather than making new ones. All that incredible German engineering and still $1000+ brake jobs. Phlueeze...

I think they should stop immitating Japanese auto makers designs. They suck. The E34.. and maybe the E39 were the last BMW's that looked like bmw's. Now they all look like camry's. But, for the high end, you get a car the looks like a Lexus. Somebody needs to slap the German back into those Krauts. How pathetic.

The next generation 5-Series will grow in overall length

I hope they're wrong on that one - it's already at my threshold for length :(

There have been several reports on future 5er. This is the third image, they are all different. Don't know which one is more reliable. As the the dimension. From another report, the overall lenght will be a tad longer but wheelbase will be significantly longer.

upshift indicator for six-speed manual versions

boy, that must be some sort of appeasement device for government gas guzzler concerns - surely no one who buys an MT 5 series needs to be told when to shift

My guess is that it will be a 2011 Model year available in late 2010...

Still ugly but infinitely more attractive than the E60 - which may be the ugliest car BMW has EVER built.

In your "Humble" opinion no doubt.:)

I actually LOVE the way the E60 looks--I couldn't be happier with mine and I get tons of great comments about the car. :D

The concept CS is a concept, it will not be released as a model in the lineup. The purpose of the Concept CS is to show the public what style and lines BMW plans to use on upcoming models.

I agree, it's still very early to tell since it is a concept for 20"10". How many other car dealers do you know are in the works thus far with a non photoshop pic. I think this a great direction for the 5 so far.

When I bought my '04 530 it was a whole new look. Within a couple months all the Japanese cars looked just like it. It was Lexus, toyota, Acura and others that did the copying. I still love the car and will trade for a 535 later this summer.

It looks great. As for other cars looking like it or it looking like them, there are some hondas and toyotas that look as though they copied the current e60 rearend. Short of a radical redesign of the rearend it will remind us of something else. As long and the brakes, engine and transmission continue to be pure BMW I'll have a hard time turning away from it in 2010 or 11.

i think it looks aweseome sign me up for new car in 2010 agree with many comments here, all of the new japaneese cars now have copied the bangle butt...i saw a camry the other day, did double take since the back of the car looked just like my 5 er

By far I think the best chopped image of the F10. None of these images can be taken seriously though. Not a whole lot of people know what the F10 will look like. Even within the company. The final design is most likely not even, well, finalized, yet.

I agree that the CS concept is the direction BMW is going to so that this image is going along that. The final product I'm sure will be nothing short of fantastic and the wait will be worth it.

I like it! Still got some time to go however. I guess i'm new school b/c me and my friends definitely prefer the current 5's the previous 5 series editions. Actually, it is not even close in our eyes. Just proves the saying, different strokes for different folks.

BMW is caught in the middle. continue to appease your current customers who quite honestly have a lot more money...vs. creating funky new designs that will catch the next generation as the build wealth.

The CS concept has the right design lines and it would nice if the 5 borrowed styling cues from it.

Til then, the current 5's are LOVELY!!!!

Just showed the pic to my friends. We all give this a "GOOD LORD THAT IS HYPE" mark lol...

Wonder if BMW has the guts to shake things up, 2 5 Series re-makes in a row. Time will tell. I'll lease my 3 and by the time the new 5 comes out - I'll be ready for her lol
