OH man... Where to start with this awful saga?
I ordered $1600 worth of goodies from EAS: DSP harness adapter, Business CD player w/ mp3, OEM sirius module, HD dice... woohoo!
when it all finally arrived, i excitedly wired it up. Dice worked PERFECT. CRYSTAL CLEAR SOUND!! Fired up the engine, boo hiss alternator whine. Fixed with a ground loop isolator and now I roll with my 'pod :) So, next, I decided to tackle the CD player...
Check this out--when i installed it, i heard absolutely NO SOUND :(
or so i thought.... I cranked it and heard staticky sound... :( Same deal with sirius. DICE was still working fine!
So i called up tom @ eas, and he referred me to this post:
http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=101910
if you read thru that somewhere around post 12 or 15... it shows instructions of what i need to do... so i did it... CD player got HOT as HELL and i turned off the car quick... Popped the trunk and smelled a lovely burning smell from the DSP amp. I figured ****, i'm out $500...
Panicked, called the awesome guys at BSW for backup... They gave me a different wiring diagram, things have gotten progressively better with each tweak. Here's where i'm at now:
http://homepage.mac.com/themacace/****Stereo/****Stereo.html
heres what works:
DICE
Sirius for about 1-3 minutes when the car is OFF (accessories position)
thats it...
what is broken:
When the cars on, sirius is jacked up, popping and cutting out and very distorted and grainy..
CD player-even wehn the car is off, every time a damn bass note hits, boom. cd cuts out. after a little while it stops playing completely, have to turn off the car and turn it back on again to reset it... lather rinse repeat :(
i dont think the amp could be fried, as the DICE sounds AMAZING.

looks like another guy on bimmerforums is having the same issue...
http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=749329

Any ideas?
What do i do if i have to go back to stock!!?!?!?!?! CAN I EVEN DO THAT AT THIS POINT!?
$25 in anyones paypal that makes this work. Not kidding.
OR a ridiclously discounted cell plan since i work at sprint. either or...
Feel free to PM me, reply to the thread, or email me at alexherron@mac.com

The help is VERY Much appreciated
Alex

Did you ever get this figured out? I am asking because I have an issue with my newly installed in-dash BMW CD player. Ran the grounds and installed the adapter cables. The radio and 6-CD changer work fine, but the in-dash will cut out and I get a lot of static. Any help?

You never got this straightened out? We spent hours troubleshooting it! What did you end up doing?

I say you should drive out to Atlanta, let me fix the car, and drive back home. Shouldn't take more than a week total, should it? :)

I took my car to a well known shop here in town - AudioEvolution.com. The in-dash CD was good and DSP amp was good. The tech found the wiring harness was wired wrong. He did not say if it was the adaptor cable or the factory cable. The bottom line is that I took it to a professional and they fixed it. Well worth the $200 I saved myself in aggravation.
