I have finally decided that I will have the dealership install non-RF Michellins or Bridgestone Potenza's the day I get my 535 sport delivered. I don't understand BMW's logic in insisting on Run Flats.

No he does not have a choice. He'll be paying for it out of pocket.

Me too,

I did not go for RFTs(after reading the 5 series brochure). Please read on page 54/55 equipment in 2008 BMW 5 Series brochure about RFTs . It is in small print on left top page-55 under the wheel picture.

Why some people are ..... about them.?

First off, I don't know why you are throwing away perfectly good tires. RF's are fine. If you want non-RF when they get worn, fine, but why waste the money now?

Second, Why are you getting tires from a dealer ?? Go to Tire Rack or someplace, you'll probably get them MUCH cheaper.

RF's are fine on the 5/6/7/X5, it is the smaller cars that have more of an issue.

I would not throw money away. The difference would be negligible.
