Full synthetic oil is required on all late model BMWs.

Ditto. So yes, it is recommended. In fact I would think that using dinosaur oil in your late model BMW may void your warranty.

Mineral oil does not meet the specifications of modern BMW.

You MUST MUST MUST use synthetic.

Here is a list of good, readily available synthetic oils in North America to use that are BMW LL01 approved:
- BMW High Performance Synthetic 5w30
- Castrol Syntec 0W30
- Mobil1 SuperSyn 0w40
- AMSOIL European Car formula 5W40

There is sythetic gas out there. It is like a pilot program based. It is expensive to make as well.
