I did my detail and installed my rack today. It went in very easily. I haven't had a chance to get it on the interstate, but it is not noisy under 50mph. It is well built too. Now, gotta get on my bike.

Neat how they put those little depressions in the roof at just the right place for the rack, eh? Another member pointed that out to me.

it went on quite well. i think it took about 10 minutes or so...being very careful not to scratch anything. the rack seems really sturdy. i wish the E60 had the 3 series roof bolt method which would elminate the brackets. even so, the design is pretty good--minimal wind noise and the doors close just like there weren't brackets.

The E39 5-Series had the bolt on type with the holes hidden behind the little doors in the rain gutter. No part of the rack touched the paint on the car. It was really nice. I don't know why they went away from that with the E60. It's too bad.

Which BMW bike rack system is it?!?!?

I was going to get a Saris but I dont like the idea of something touching my paint...
