Been researching buying a 535xi. Anyone know what a realistic percent of MRSP would be appropriate to close a deal. We know msrp. We know wholesale. What is a realistic percent when purchasing in the NYC area.

Thanks,

I have seen people get 1000-1500 over invoice in New York.

And that's the language you want to use with the dealers--$ over invoice, not discount from MSRP, so they understand you not a sucker... ;)

Is that without MACO and training fees?

Wish there is $1500 over invoice around where I live, the best I can do is $2000 off MSRP (around $2700 over invoice).
Oh well.

some got even $900/- over invoice with a gift for trunk including me.
Go to local dealer, decide the model, style, colors and options and say thank U.
Go for the best deal reading forums,
Make a deal by e-mails/and phone calls, close to your city/state.
Get it shipped. U will still save thousands. IMHO.

I thought about it but decided against it, trucking a car accross is around $800-1000 so it eats the saving fast.
Then if you got rock chip, dent etc, on the way. it's a hassle and I just hate fixing a car with 0 miles on it.
Lastly, if(hypotherically) the fuel pump goes south in 2nd year I am going to be treated worst than a step child.

Hope I don't sound like a snob it's just we need more BMW dealers around here :p
Just can't figure out why there is so much demand in WA for this facelift (4 year old cars). I can't imagine if F10 comes out in a few years, What $2000 over MSRP for those around here?

Just wanted to thank everyone for the great advice. I drove the deal to $1,500 above invoice and made a little up on the trade in of a 2000 323. I solicited more quotes with very little success. This approach may be played out. At some point the additional $500.00 to purchase at a dealer that was in my back yard seemed not worth any more fight. Great deal no........ Can I live with it....... Yeah!!
