Hi, This issue is with my 1999 323i convertible. For sometime, the drivers side windows auto up function would only put the window part way up, like bounce down a little, and then stop, the window would go up a little more each time I pushed the button, but only go up all of the way if I held the switch down. Last night I shut the door and the window did not automatically lower the fraction of an inch like it always has, so I opened the door and it lowered and I shut the door, the window went back up and it was all good.
Then I got in the car an hour later and noticed that the auto down didn't work, the window would go down, but the autodown didn't work. When I pushed the button and held it down to put the window up, the window went all the way up, but had a loud clicking sound until i let the button up. The same thing happened this morning.
When I got to work this morning I got out of the car and shut the door and the window had lowered the fraction of an inch ok, but then it did the loud clicking sound like three times when the window automatically went up.
Now, when I got in the car tonight, the drivers window doesn't work at all....
Any suggestions?
I'm thinking fuse first...maybe...probably not.
The button...probably not because the master window switch doesn't work on that window either..
Theres something awry with the sensor or motor in the door itself.
Idea's, solutions are welcome and thank you all in advance. :)

Thanks for the warm welcome and the links.

I verified that it was the moter, but I'm probably going to have someone else do the work. I got to the motor but how do you remove it? Drill out the rivets? I did discover that i need to replace my speakers though!

thanks again for your help!
