Welcome to the fest buddy

The light display is telling you that you need an oil service soon. If it has recently had one, it has just not been reset.

As for the beeps....that is a good question. When does it happen?

The beeps are probably from the "memo" feature on your OBC. The way I understand it, if you push the "memo" button, a little light appears on your display screen, and you'll get these beeps a few minutes before each hour. It's to remind you that the top of the hour is coming up. It won't stop until you hit the "memo" button again.

At least, that's what I discovered when I had that same incessant beeping sound.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the beeping would be the Memo function. On the On Board Computer (OBC) under the clock display there are 4 buttons. One of them says Memo. This beeps at the xx:59 of every hour - the function is to alert drivers of the coming hour so they can tune to the hourly news report. On the clock display, you will see a dot with some arc shapes coming from it, like a speaker sort of symbol. If you see this, its activated.

And the green lights, if you have the owners manual, read up on them, they tell you of a few different things (which I don't remember off the top of my head). Also, if I'm not mistaken it is set on a 5k or 7.5k mi interval, which, if you're using regular oil is way too long (I'm religious about 3k on reg, but for my own cars I only use synthetic). So just a few things to check up on.

I know that this is an old post but I've had the same "problem" with my 2003 BMW. This forum has provided many valuable answers such as this and I wanted to stop and say "Thank You". You guys really do provide a worthwhile service.

This is very old, I was excited to call Chad out and tell him he was wrong about the memo button, its actually only one beep.

Dangit...

Not accusing anybody but here's an alert for all Bimmer owners. If you do not read the manual (and reread it once in a while) you are missing a lot of features that you paid for when you bought your car. Bimmers have lots of features not found in most other cars. If your car had a previous owner many of those settings may not be the way you prefer them. Why pay Bimmer prices when you're not using the features?
