Looking at loading up on accessories for our 08 535xiT, which now has a scheduled production date. :D

Some questions.

1. What are the exact differences between the

All Weather Cargo Liner http://bmw.autowebaccessories.com/store/bmw-5-series-cargo-liner-prod1389_14245-1-64-2-5529.php

and the

"Luggage Compartment Mat, Fitted" http://bmw.autowebaccessories.com/store/bmw-5-series-luggage-compartment-mat-prod1389_14242.php

...? I notice the former comes in a variety of colors to match the interior, but the latter seems wider (on the sedan). The pictures on the various sites are quite tiny. I would prefer something color matched (beige) with a good sized lip like on the floor mats.

2. Mud flaps. Does anyone have better pics of mudflaps fitted to a E61? Are they "spats" that you would color match, or just regular black mudflaps? http://bmw.autowebaccessories.com/store/bmw-5-series-mud-flaps-prod1389_14257.php

3. Does anyone have either the rear drink holder and/or storage system installed (in place of ski bag)? Can you install both? If you have to pick one, pros/cons?

I think this is the cargo mat that you're looking for based on your description. This is the one I have for my 535xiT. It comes in beige, gray or black. I like it because it has a lip around the entire edge and it is deeply grooved, so the dirt and sand fall into the grooves and it doesn't slide around on top of the mat. I have two French Bulldogs that ride in a crate in the back all the time, so they're constantly getting in and out of the cargo area with dirty, sandy feet and that junk never leaves the cargo mat. It's really easy to vacuum, too. I did that yesterday.

I also have the mudflaps, but couldn't tell you what they look like on another car because mine's black, so they just blend in and you hardly notice that they're there.

As for the cup holder, don't have that. I hardly ever have anyone riding in my back seat, so it wouldn't be a priority.

For what it's worth, I also invested in the rubber floor mats. Living in the northeast, we get so much snow, rain and mud that I decided to just get the rubber mats instead of carpet. There was a set of carpeted mats that came inside the car, although they weren't that nice.

I hope this helps. Good luck!

Yep, was planning on getting the rubber floor mats. Thanks for the tips on the cargo mat.

If you or anyone have better close up pictures of the mud flaps that would be great.

Congrats on getting your 535xiT, are you liking it?

I'll get you some pictures of the mudflaps. Love the wagon -- enjoy every minute of driving it. It's as great as I'd hoped it would be, and then some! :D

Thanks! Interesting, they look quite good, especially on black. Our car will be platinum bronze with shadowline (black) trim, so they may look ok in black.

(I think the 5 series needs something on the sills to break up the look a bit visually anyway, but that's another story.)

I have a Yakima system on my 530XIT and has worked like a champ. Lowrider towers with the 48" bars. There is technically no fit for the car from Thule or Yakima but the factory rails are almost the same as the X3 ones, I am more of a fan with the Yakima line of products and they have a great warranty. I have two mountain bike mounts on there and all seems well. Just make sure that when you are installing the system to pop the sunroof so you can position everything so it does not interfere with the sunroof. Also worth noting is an increase in wind noise but is to be expected when you are placing stuff in the air stream....
Oh and is easy to take on and off, DO NOT forget to buy the lock cores!
Best of luck!

Thank you for posting the photos City! After seeing how good they look on your car, I am going to order them for my black sapphire wagon too :)

Are they easily installed or does one need to have the dealer put them on?

I had the dealer put mine on. It seems to me that they mentioned (or I heard somewhere else) that there's a special tool that you need to install them. I could be mistaken, but I do know that it took the dealer longer than they'd planned because, according to them, they were kind of tricky to install. In the end, the dealer only charged me for an hour of labor, but I think it took more like two. Maybe someone else knows more or has installed them themselves and could comment.

I can tell you that it has minimized the amount of junk that's being thrown up onto the lower sides of the car. I'm happy I got them.

We just returned from a fabulous ED of our 2008 535xiT and drove 2500 miles around Germany, France, and Spain. Purchased BMW floor mats in Munich after picking up the car. Brought them home in our suitcases.

Re reaar cup holders - you are aware there are already 2 holders which fold out of the front of the rear armrest, right? Even with the ski bag option (which we have). How many more cups do you really need???:)

Enjoy your new car - we are looking forward to our re-delivery in about 6 weeks.

Citygirl - you DO have a rear double cup holder (at least my car does - but it might be part of a cold weather option which I am sure you have in Maine) - it's hidden in the rear armrest and folds out from the front of it . Took me a while to figure that out. Cheers!

I've never looked! I've only had one person in the backseat in the six weeks I've had the car and we only drove a short distance to a restaurant. I'll look at it tomorrow because you've got me curious. I have the cold weather package (of course -- it was in the 30's here early this morning!), so if it comes with that, then I have it.

Glad to hear you had such a good time on your ED trip. Have you posted any pictures? I'm sure you're quite eager to have the car returned to you so that you can put many more miles on it.

I have a Thule setup on my 535xiT. It's a mystery why Thule doesn't list this car. It works great, and looks good too IMO. I use the 450 Crossroad mounts, LB50 Load Bars & an 871 fairing.

I've also been looking into the cup holder module. Would love any thoughts from people who have it, might have seen it. We have two car seats in the back. The problem with the existing two cup holders are that they're so far up towards the front, that our kids can't reach them and keep asking us for the drinks. I figure the cup holder module sits further back so those would be more self-serve.

What year model do you have? I think none of this stuff fits the 08/LCI wagon - the storage compartment didn't fit.

FYI It does not fit the 2008/LCI models. It will fit earlier models.

FYI:

It's kind of a style thing, but you may want to consider Thule Racks instead of Yakima....they make the OEM racks, and are (originally) a euro company.

Fits with the euro theme of the car....
