You sure they are not E46 M3's mate?
You may have back pressure issues if you have 4 tips unless you have some blocked off

Or have drinking straws for pipes on each of them.
More tips doesn't mean more power.

It can often mean LESS power!

LOL. Great, another "i want to look faster" thread. Get a spoiler too, I hear those are good for an extra 43 HP.

Silver Altezza tail lights are a sure +100, too...
Actually, I think this guy is just curious, so I'm not going to launch on him. Not that I generally flame people anyway.

Difference being that spoilers DO actually have a purpose!
Quad exhaust will look a bit odd if you ask me mate
Post a picture of the back of your car

It's a Camaro with a quad exhaust from SLP Engineering. Probably an SS from the Plate.

You can always screw in non-functional muffler tips on the other side, but that's just plain rice if you ask me. Leave it the way it is.

Nope..you are quite wrong. In AUST ///M badges were put on the 3series Compact and coupes that had been 'enhanced' by motorsport instead of IS badges. This was up till 99 I believe.
I have the M44 (1.9) engine in mine as well, where as the standard is the m43.
There have been numerous threads about this on the forum, so I suggest yu go have a look.....
As far as I am concerned, its come from the factory with them on, and there is an annexure in the handbook detailing the difference, and the origial purchace reciept shows under options 'Motorsport M package' then they stay on.........:flame:

That **** looks clean as hell if you ask me. You other guys are dildos for bashing on someone for their persanal opinon, if he wants to put quad exhaust on his E36 then let him, its his damn car. I mean I probly wouldn't do it either which is why I'm not doing it, but I could care less about what someone else does to his car.

As Chad, I agree with Chad as far as that not looking bad at all.
TBH reading this thread I was thinking, oh great, another ricer wannabe. Why the heck does he need for exhaust tips...
But, that looks very good if you ask me.
Now, I would guess that probably does hurt performance a bit, but it does look nice!

True, it looks nice, but if you're just going to bolt on a fake extension there's no point. I never said he shouldn't, I was just pointing out that if you add too many pipes, you can lose too much backpressure, which can kill performance. I guess your response was more on some of the other posts, but still.
Sure, it's his car, but I was just pointing out that more isn't always better.
Can we cut through some of this "it's not my car" business?
Sure, a lot of people like to express an opinion and say 'to each his own,' and others like to just keep their mouths shut, but an opinion is an opinion, nothing more. If you don't like it, let it go, and if you find it helpful, by all means, take it.
Quite honestly, if I'm thinking of adding something to my car, I'd like to hear others' opinions on it. Whether or not I listen to the opinions depends on the mod and my mood, but it still helps in finding what you want. Sure, it's not as helpful when the mod is already paid for and put on, but it's still helpful for the other person who's thinking about getting the same mod.
Differences in opinion mean that all of our cars will be different, which is good, unless we all wanted to be a group of followers. It makes things unique. On the other hand, some of those arguments of opinion are an attempt at keeping some amount of respect for the cars we drive around.

An interesting tidbit from UUC's website regarding exhaust and backpressure..
Modern BMWs don't have to worry about the effects described above, because the DME (car's computer) that controls the engine will detect that the engine is burning leaner than before, and will adjust fuel injection to compensate. So, in effect, reducing backpressure really does two good things: The engine can use work otherwise spent pushing exhaust gas out the tailpipe to propel the car forward, and the engine breathes better. Of course, the DME's ability to adjust fuel injection is limited by the physical parameters of the injection system (such as injector maximum flow rate and fuel system pressure), but with exhaust backpressure reduction, these limits won't be reached.

Plus your MPG would be destroyed!

yea i can get great fuel milage when i push for it, especially if u drift behind some bobcatting semi trucks , ive gotten a solid 39 MPG doing that for over 100km once.

Good tip!
Less wind resistance = less power needed to move forward = more MPG
E36 Phantom
06-12-2007, 03:19 PM
Yes, if you're on a trip on the highway and you can find an SUV or van (semi's move too slow for my taste) and jump in behind them, you will gain huge MPG savings since all your wind resistance has been pushed out of the way already. Now, for me, its not worth it cuz then you can't see ahead of them, at which point if traffic comes to a stop, well, you're screwed.
As for buying for the MPG...are you kidding? What kind of enthusiast buys a car based on MPG ratings. Lol. I don't bother looking at them. Actually, I was shocked when I plugged it into my spreadsheet (I log gas receipts for recording miles - since I'm already logging them I figured I might as well run out MPG figures....) the thing gets a good 6-7 MPG better than the Supra. Great!

the other concern is if the truck throws up a rock but it takes alot of attention so its pretty tiring, while i like to drive fast i also enjoy trying to drive as efficiently as possible sometimes its just as challenging especially trying to maintain speed through turns
