Right today I decided to remove the rear window spoiler the last owner fitter to my bimmer.
It was the only thing letting down the car.
It came off pretty easy but it was previously siliconed onto the window/bodywork.
Now i can't seem to get the silicon off, its so well stuck and as its rubber it's a nightmare.
I can't use some form of scraper either as I will take the paint off.
Any ideas guys?
Thank you!
Dave.

Have you tried swearing at it?
That's the first thing I did, but strangely it made no difference.
I then thought about setting fire to the car and smashing it up in a furious rage, until it dawned on me that would be rather counter productive.
The thing is when using solvents they make no difference, its rubber, glued, so you need something to pierce the seal.
I had to use a screwdriver on my headlights to remove the crap siliconed on plastic brows...
Plastic razor blades will be spot on, i never even knew they existed. :dunno:
Thanks guys.

A friend just told me screwfix do silicon remover, paint it on and it eats it, literally.
That and some plastic blades will sort it.
Thanks for the help guys, I can stop panicking now.

If possible would someone be so kind to post a photo of their rear window.
I think part of the rubber is missing from mine, think it was removed to fit the spoiler.
Anyone know if the rubber comes in two parts?
Thanks for the help!

Is it meant to have a big gap between the glass and body?
Cheers.

Respect, you lot are priceless.
I did order new rubbers today and when I think about it BMW did say there was a top and bottom but I just assumed it replaced what I already had.
Is what I have currently one piece?
If so I guess I have already ordered the extra bit I need.
