I just purchased a '00 M Roadster. I would love to mod the newer keyless start/unlock system (comfort access:yummy:) into my:drive: new car. So my questions:
1. Is it reaasonably posible?
2. What parts from the newer vehicle will i need?
3. What would be the installation procedure?

I doubt it is feasible. Comfort access involves multiple high frequency (RF) and low frequency (H-field) antennas throughout the car. This is how the car can tell when the key is inside the car, and is in the front seat area. I think attempting to install those antennas in the doors, multiple locations behind the dash, and probably at least one in the back of the cockpit, would be cost prohibitive after production.

I thought it would use something like RFID's, not an RF transmitter receiver. That would mean that you would have only a few 'readers' in the vehicle. Does anyone out there know exactly what components there are in the comfort access system?
