Thinking about.
The M is getting up their in miles and sick of a new light coming up on the dash everyday.
plus I think 450hp with a live rear axle would be fun
would one regret the m3 for a saleen mustang? vert for a vert
what would u offer for this saleen?
seems kind of high for asking price

Yeah, that's too high. You can get one for $40k if you look good.
I'd get a Rousch Stage 3 instead. They're better handling and faster.

Uhh, that car isnt supercharged. It just has a beauty cover over the intake manifold. Sorry, but it looks like that is not really a Saleen, or at least the supercharged one. For almost the same money, you can get a new Shelby GT500, and maybe a vert and it has a warranty.

it is supercharged
I would look at at the GT500 MSRP is 45k but all going in the 60s? :dunno:
I like the look of the Saleen more then Roush or the GT500. I would need new wheels for sure on the GT500.
I dislike when cars are bought over sticker and sit in a garage :thumbdwn: (gt500)
maybe just get a newer m3 like a slightly used 2005ish with new colors etc

I am looking for a convertible sports car or GT convertible (a bit bigger as I will not fit in an Audi tt or S2000 etc)
I own my 2002 bmw m3 vert free and clear and I want something new or something.
price range be 40k-50k.
suggestions of cars......

How about a C6 Vette? Better looking, handling, and faster than the mustang with higher resale value as well. Plus you can get a targa which may be better than the vert anyway :dunno:

Although ours is not a V8, I have to agree with this with "stock" in mind. My wife loves her convert mustang, but when I drive it, it feels big, sluggish and is a POS around corners. The interior leaves ALOT to be desired.
My FJ Cruiser can corner better and out accelerate her Mustang.

Porsche Cayman
Spending 40K+ on a Mustang is like buying a stock at $100 and tanks to $10 in no time.

99.99% of automobiles are never an investment, including M3's.

GET THE VETTE. :) I think you would be very happy with that choice. You would be nowhere near as happy with a Saleen, GT500 or similar.

You're going to be sick of how crude and harsh the Mustang is awfully fast. I suppose it'll be fun if you wear earplugs or get a louder exhaust.

I am not even 35......not near the age to buy a vette. I think you have to be old to have a vette?
Just if that saleen was high 30s I would do it.
i wish the clk amg 63 wasnt so damn $$$$

The cayman is a sporty car. You must be thinking of the Cayenne.
You also don't have to be old to drive a vette. A vette is 10x better than any mudstain you will buy.

I own my m3 and thinking I could get 30k -31k for it. I assume an a 2004-2005 used 6 series will be around high 50s low 60s
Put 10k down and finance 20k for 60 months (payments around $400ish range) that was what my m3 was. My trade in and bit down to keep payments around $400 range. worked out great. I just bought a place so I will be buying items for the condo.
One rule I have had with cars is pay off your car and own it free and clear before getting something new
I will wait till about Oct before buying anything
I ment the SUV with regards to the porsche my mistake. I just Porsche then the letter "C" and though SUV....I think it would be too small for me..

You could get an '03 SL500 Sport with most of the options for $50k~
Just food for thought.

I love Saleen's but I'd never think about buying one. Would rather just get a GT or Cobra and mod it the way I wanted and make it better than a Saleen.
I'm with the guys who said Vette, however. Get a c6 vert :) :) :)

An M3 = just a bmw to most girls (or other drivers for that matter)
Saleen = just a mustang

Watch Top Gear's review of the Shelby Mustang. They pretty much trash it. It's in season 9, but I can't remember which episide.

yep
I had a girl tell me her sister's car is the same as mine. (it was a nice 325ci) I didn't care it goes to show to the average person a 325 is the same as an m3.
i assume a 6 cyl mustang is rolled off a Shelby GT 500 or Saleen.
I will wait till November and think about it again.

For reference, yesterday a coworker (a car nut that goes through several cars a year) traded in his non-supercharged low-mileage Saleen on an '06 M3 ZCP.

one man's trash another man's treasure.
I think I would only go for the supercharged saleen as the 281 only has 330 ponies while the supercharged is 435-450 phones.
I will wait til winter before ..... enjoy it and hope nothing else goes wrong :)

such vile talk about American muscle. If you really want to own a great mustang go for the Roush Stage 3. BMW makes nothing to compare to it. The vehicle as about raw power and gives an audible rumble that shakes you to the bone. Its about tire smoking kick in the tail fun, not European twisty roads. The Muscle car era is alive and well with the new Mustangs GT, Shelby, GT 500, Saleen , and especially Roush. Enthusiasts understand the names Roush and Shelby an d these new cars definitely pay homage to them and are deserving of the name.
Roush Stage 3 should be your choice.

In my honest opinion going from M3 to Mustang is going backwards. I would go with Porsche Cayman over the Mustang if I was you. I think Vette would even be a better choice then the Mustang.

I'm not sure if the Rouch Stage 3 performs better than the GT 500, but I do know that the regular Corvette does :bigpimp:

If he want a car to run with a Z06 he needs a 03/04 Cobra. Saleens & Rouchs are nice cars with body kits and are about maxed out for power. The GT500 is a nice car but over priced. You can pick up a low mile Cobra for under 30k that has IRS and better engine platform that will handle the twisties. It's also limited editions so it hold it's value too. Just my .02 from the other side.

The IRS in th 03/04 Cobra, though better than the 99/01, still was not that good. That, and the fact that the chassis design was 25 years old does not help.

Have you actually test driven a mustang? I think they are GREAT looking cars but I have heard nothing but negative reviews about how they handle.
