How would one test weather a fuel pump works.
I used a multi-meter to check if I have power going to the pump its self. But does anyone now what are the specifics on that, I am trying to test my fuel pump before I RMA it and get a new one.
Any help would be great.
And no the ECU is not wet, nor rained in the past 3 weeks, nor evaporated all the gas.

Pressure and volume test is how you test the pump for correct functionality. From memory as I am on the road so break out the Bentley and if you don't have a Bentley I think you can go online and get the pages that cover this.
Pressure again from memory is 44-46 psi and volume again from memory is like 1 liter in I think a minute.
This is how you check the pump for functionality...

Now by those pumps, there are several connectors, 2 white, and 1 black.
White - Sender
Black - Pump
I used a multi-meter on the white connectors and received a reading of 24v.
Will the similar test work with the black connector aswell? And also, If I read 0v from this connector how can I troubleshooting this problem? Fuses?

you should be able to turn the key to the on position and you will hear 2 clicks from under the hood (fuel pump relay) and then a humming from the pump. but i dont know if that will work on bmw's. havnt really paid attention. if it does work though you might have to have somone stick their head under the gas tank to listen for it.

His comment about the wet ECU
Standing joke mate, he doesn't like me cos i tried to help him a while back but inadvertently asked him the same question twice in two separate threads

Lol!!! I loved that thread!!!
Only way to check if youre pump is the way Fun2Drive said it. Pressure test, U have to remove the pump and check for correct pressure.
