I installed my aFe intake this morning, and then went for a nice drive. If anyone is interested, I'd be happy to post a review of the product, both in installation, performance and sound.
Most people here have more experience at BMWs than I do, so I won't bother posting if the vast majority of you are already aware of the performance.

I think long term they actually make your car slower by clogging the intake with oil & crap that the filter lets in. I plan on cleaning my MAF tomorrow myself.

Agreed, but with regular cleaning they are a benefit to any car. I keep a can of CRC MAF cleaner in the garage and clean my MAF and intake piping any time I clean the filter.
