I have a '96 e36 vert and I currently have stock everything (except for Kove audio speakers). I do not have the HK upgrade.

I'm going to add a subwoofer (or two). I'm trying to decide between two 8" or one 10". I'm mostly interested in SQ.

The 8" subs would be pointed directly through the skipass. The space in the trunk is only 9.75" tall so 8" subs are the biggest I can use. I was going to use this idea: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=107099

If I went with a 10", I was going to use a downfiring box like this one:

I have a 4 channel Alpine MRV-F303 amp I'm going to use to power the sub and the two front speakers.

FYI: since it's a vert I do not have a rear deck.

Any opinions?

We prefer the single 8" thru the skipass. In the E36, it sounds fantastic, and blends very, very well, with 0 rattles, and it fits perfect :)

Hi Ken,
Don't I need to have the HK upgrade to use that system?

Absolutely not, it will work just the same in any E36 Cabrio.
