The time has come for me to sell my 2003 330i ZHP, what with its replacement only a few short weeks away.

It is in superb mechanical condition, fanatically maintained over its 38k miles. Synthetic oil changes every 5k miles (including 1200 miles), brake flushes every year, filters before required by BMW Inspections, all recalls and fixes. Never smoked in and the interior looks very good. Lightly modified with an eye towards enhancing driving pleasure while maintaining reliability and street compliance, as described below. Regarded by many as the ultimate E46 car, you can think of this one as a ZHP-plus.

- The car and options: 2003 330i Imola Red with Performance Package (ZHP), 38k mi, 6sp manual transmission, Alcantara seats, Aluminum Trim, bi-Xenons, Cold Weather Package (heated seats, xenon washers, folding seats, ski sack, etc.), Sunroof, HK Audio.

- Performance modifications: OEM M strut tower bar, UUC adjustable sway bars, Axxis Ultimate brake pads, ECIS cold air intake, Rogue Engineering pulleys, CDV removal, ligthweight staggered OZ Superleggera 18" wheels with new (3k mi) Pilot Sport tires, M3 fuel baffle, stainless steel front lines and Super Blue fluid. Cobalt Spec VR race pads available upon request.

- Other modifications: OEM Clear lights all around, blacked-out front grille, custom-painted gunmetal wheels, Ultimate Pedal brushed aluminum gas pedal, OEM M dead pedal, Active Autowerke brushed aluminum handbrake handle, Euro tray for holding iPod, OEM rear window sunshades, OEM trunk mat, OEM trunk grocery hooks, OEM door cupholder.

- Audio modifications: 2005 OEM MP3 CD player, upgraded Rainbow Audio IQ speakers (engineered for perfect fit in factory locations), Aux-in connection and integrated Belkin iPod charger.

- Warranty replacements, fixes and recalls: cold weather rough running, new ZHP perforated leather steering wheel, upgraded sunroof casette, new transmission.

- Additional items: 5 winter tires on steel wheels, full-size OEM BMW 18" spare wheel, most OEM parts (intake, lights, speakers, pulleys and cupholder tray).

- Asking price $27k, located in Bethesda MD

I'll first try to sell this car as is with all modifications included. I am a reasonable man and will entertain reasonable offers. If I find a buyer who wants the car back to OEM spec (or as close as possible) then I'll take off the mods and list them separately.

If anybody wants bigger or other pics, please ask and I'll email them.

As is, the car is amazingly balanced and drives as sweet as they come, perfectly at ease on the street and on the track.

I know some will ask themselves about the gunmental wheels - do they look good? and why? Well, I think they look darn good, and they hide brake dust really well :). and being 18-19lbs a piece, they are 10lbs lighter (per corner) than the OEM ones. I've included a few closeups of the wheels.

One last pic, of the business end of the car.

Wow! That is a great price for a very tastefully moddified car. (Personally, I think you are lowballing yourself! I sold my stock 04 ZHP for $28.5K)

Thanks for your compliment, it's a very sweet car. I wish I could keep it as a track car, it would be just about perfect...

I'm hoping I priced it right for a painless sell - it is after all a year older than yours :). I've also priced all the mods that can be removed around $1700, so I believe the "base price" is correct for the year and miles.

Time will tell...

 I remember when you first got it...:(

GL with the sale, someone is going to get a nice ride. Still, gotta move on.

Mine's still going strong, four years later. :)

Nice ride and decent price for a well maintained e46.

I'm sure you'll be able to sell it privately.

nice ! how you compare it to ZHP? srry to ask this but is it lot faster than zhp. I am think to trade my zhp for a 335i too. but just worry about the turbo won't last long. aprreciated if you could make a comparison between zhp and 335i driving feel. thanks

Well, I suppose a short comparison wouldn't hurt...

The 335 is of course faster in a straight line, but IMO not in the curvy stuff.

The ZHP has much better steering feel and - with UUC sways - similar lean in corners. Stock, I think a ZHP would lean more. This being said, the ZHP has a more "nuggety" ride, with more information filtering back through the suspension and steering wheel. At low speeds, the 335 steering seems more dead and definitely heavier (but not heavier in a good way, rather in a more artificial way).

The 335 understeers less in stock form than a stock ZHP, I think. The ZHP has more engine, road and wind noise. But to my ear, the 335 sounds better. :dunno:

The 335 Sport Pack has absolutely fabulous sport seats. Takes the excellent sport items from the ZHP and ratchets up another 2 notches.

The 335 is more comfortable (softer sprung).

To sum it up: I wish I could keep the ZHP for a track car and the 335 for a daily driver.

Nice ! enjoy your ride. Yes, I agree the ZHP born to have the genes for the track but its power still lacking some greater numbers.

Are the OZs 18x8? What size tires are on it? I like the gunmetal gray OZs, but they were already out of production when I got mine.

They are 18x8 front, 18x9 rear with OEM-sized tires. They are fabulous at hiding brake dust.

Wow, nice whip!

I just sold my 2001 330i SP/CWP with 43,5xx miles on it today for $17k (cashier's check still in hand). I certainly would entertain taking a look at your car. Can you PM me what you think might be the lowest price you might consider for a quick, local sale to a fellow Bimmerfest member?

Asking price reduced to $25,400 as-is, or $23,900 stock.

I'm currently on the hunt for a set of stock wheels and can have the car back to stock in a hurry. I really hope to goes to an enthusiast, Carmax would be such a low point for a car like this...

WOW, I can't belive your car hasn't sold yet! Especially at that price!?!?! Are you advertizing in craigslist and/or autotrader? There has to be someone that is looking for a ZHP, modded or not, that would like that price.

Tell me about it... I'm this close to throwing it back to stock on Saturday and taking it to Carmax. I bet they'll give me $22-23k...

But no, the car just doesn't deserve this. It will get advertised in September's Roundel, which is hopefully read by people with more money. :D

No they won't!! You'll probably get $18.5-20K top. Unless you know one of the appraisers, then may be you'll get $22. Trust me, I've already tried.
BTW, my car is pretty identical to yours. A couple of diff. are I have a Nav, but you have more mod's. I have 40K miles and still have CPO and Maint for two more years - which Carmax doesn't care.

Any way, good luck. All I'm trying to say is don't waste your time putting it back to stock and selling it to Carmax thinking you'll get 22-23K for it.

Guys unfortunately what I think is hurting you from selling those cars quickly is the color - a red car is a love/hate thing. I'd guess that if they were silver grey they'd be long gone by now.

Could be you're right... so I just have to wait for that one buyer who will actually want an Imola car... :). Positive thinking, always...

I still have some mods that the buyer was not interested in, which I'll soon post separately. (ECIS intake, OEM clears all around, Rainbow Audio IQ speakers, OEM M strut bar, UUC pulleys).

Just bought a '03 330 ZHP a couple of months ago and looking for winter tires and wheels setup. Would you be interested in selling those separately? What are the specs, how much, and would you be willing to ship?
