View Full Version : Undocumented AUX input feature

Recently, while messing around with the controls I found a "Feature" that is not documented in the US. It seems that Becker had responded to European problems/complaints of insufficient gain of the AUX input by adding a switchable input level (line driver?) to my version of HU. It is activated when in AUX mode by pressing any radio station preset button on the left, i.e. 1, 2 or 3 to decrease and any right side button, 4, 5 or 6 to increase. There are only 2 levels, only 'higher' and 'lower' no stepping as it were.

This would not apply to the newer HU's as they have a properly configured AUX input level adjustment. Mine is an 05 325i w/HK and NAV.

This is on most BMWs, the CD numbers represent gain levels.

Perhaps you misundstood. There is not 1-6 CD on my unit. You would be referring to the later model E-49 perhaps? Nor are there multiple AUX input gain levels as there are on the later models, just 2. If I have missed the documentation, please tell me where it is for the AUX input level input adjustment for an E46 with the Harmon Kardon and NAV. Perhaps there are other desireable features that I have missed.

The 1-6 buttons are your radio presets on the bottom row - all e46s have these.

Who knows how to hard wire to the FM radio unit a AUX connector for a 2003 745i?
