Ok the scenery is this. Its 6:00pm and its dark here (stupid winter) and it was raining alll day!. Anyways i had just finished work and my dad ordered pizza's. Yummy. On the way to pick them up we drove through the back streets of a suburb called Lalor. I used to live there and nowadays its a troubled area. So im cruising at arounf 50kmph when at the last minute i see a broken beer bottle. But the funny thing was that the neck was standing up right and the top end looked extreamly sharp. I didnt like the idea of risking one of my 18's so Ive just pointed it out quickly to my dad, made sure there was no incomming cars on the opposite side (neck of bottle was on my side) and ive just did and extreamly sharp swerve to the right and then ive thrown it back in to my left....
My lil e36 felt like it was on rails. Didnt slide, It just turned sharply like i wanted and when i swerved it back into my lane it didnt slide.

you were not going that fast to have it get out of balance badly, glad the car is ok. you could have just put it between the wheels of course... :)

If it's possible to dodge it completely, I suggest you do. Putting anything between the wheels could damage the underbody. Especially a sharp beer bottle standing straight up.

Having 18" wheels with low profile tyres and a lowered suspension will give your car really good stiff handling. Get a front strut X-brace and it will be even better!
With my standard 15" alloys and high ride height mine sinks in around corners, but even so I thrash it around and I feel the back end step ever so slightly as a modulate the gas. It seems any E36 can slide at the rear no matter how little power it has. I only do that on big open wide roundabouts though when dry.

how much is much? I think anyone who has under 10 years of driving experience is kidding themselves if they think they have at least enough. Unless you do track days every weekend of course, but generally speaking, most accidents people make is with 2-6 years of experience or smth like that. The time when you feel you have it but actually...
didnt say it was wet, well thats different. I think have have good tyres as well which shuolda helped. Its just reading your story, i understood that you drove, saw the thing far far away, talked to your dad, closed in on it and threw the car around it and back.

Try this for size DOM!
Ok,going up to my parents place 400 km's away,it's late at night, road is dark highs on then all of sudden a big wombat pops up ,im doing 100 km's an hour, only split second to react,no car coming at me,hit the brakes abs fires and i just "stomp and steer" round it,was a bit of a thrill at those speeds. I NEVER got out of control, been driving since i was 17,suffice to say,I have a bit of experience in car control, tank good of paddocks, and gravel roads, lol.
Were i was had i hit it,would have completely destroyed the front end,no mobile reception were we were,no towns for a good 100 km's to.

I'm sorry my friend, you have not experienced a stupid winter unless you've experienced a stupid Canadian winter!:) I'll take dark skies and rain anyday of the week over our winters

Oddly enough, here in West Virginia we rarely have that wombat problem.
Go figure ...

ive got just over 1 years of driving experience. It was pretty close when i saw it and i just had enough time to tell my dad and swerve around it. It felt very good afterwoods. My brother complained in the back seat so i think it was pretty sharp!
I drove today to the city. 40km trip. TUT TUT :D
