328i over heating problems

hi all , i have recently bought a 328 i from a good friend of mine and i love it , BUT now i am starting to have a few problems with it: 1. computer saying i have a failed brake light when they are working just fine( plus sometimes it says they have failed and they actally have!, so on and off working brake light syndrome) common so i have read> 2. when my friend had it he said he had probs with it stalling alot when idoling or rolling to a stop, he tryed the usaul fixes( no joy) but problem was solved when a friend of his wielded the fan permernantly on, so now no stalling but if i sit in traffic for a wee while the old girl over heats, so please please help me or the misses will make get rid, any info most welcome, thankyou

i just had the same brake light sensor failure, or about failure. As johnf posted in my thread from a day ago, its caused by sensor wearing out and fails pretty often, so will have to be replaced. Mine is starting to fail but still working. i checked the break lights, all seem ok.
