Hi Guys - Wondering how many miles X3 need to run before her tier pressure is checked and air in once its neccessary. Thank you!

You mean tire pressure, right?

Tire pressures should be checked regularly, I'd say every 2-3 weeks. Make sure the tires are cold, I recommend first thing in the morning. Otherwise the pressures will be off and inaccurate. You should also check things like engine oil level and coolant level at this time. Oh wait, no dipstick! Use the computer I suppose for the motor oil level.

Tires will usually lose a pound of pressure a month. Mario Andretti said so :D

Don't forget to let the summer air out and put in fresh winter air every December.

Just kidding.... :)

Would BMW dealer check tier pressure, oil level for us without charge if we bring our cars in? Thanks.

Alas, the days of the "service station" are over...

Perhaps they might, you would have to check.

I would suspect if you asked them nicely, they would probably be happy to do that for you, providing they were not busy. (I certainly would, if I were in that business, but that's just me.)

More reliable would be to obtain an accurate pressure gauge, and get on a regular schedule of doing a (monthly?) walkaround your car, checking tire pressure and oil / coolant / brake fluid (coolant and brake fluid visually, oil level via the computer).

Every time I take my X3 for service they actually put too much air in my tires! It handles great but you feel every nook and cranny in the road. Last time they had gone up to 37/39 psi front/rear which I quickly adjusted back to the factory recommended pressures (actually I keep it 1 psi above!)

Yeh, last time I went in for a tire rotation on the X3, the dealer put the rears up front and the fronts in the rear without changing tire pressure. On the way home, it drove very hard and steered differently. When I got it home, I checked the pressure, discovered the problem and adjusted accordingly.

Since I have the tire pressure monitor, I decided to let it go to see just when the light would go on. It took 2 months and the tires were uniformly about 2 psi low. Now that I feel I can rely on the monitor, I may get a little lazy and not check pressure manually as often. Might as well take advantage of the technology.

Depends on the dealer.

Tire pressure is really easy to check. If you can pump your own gas, you can check the air in your tires.

Oil?? You don't even have to get out of the car to check the oil level.

Every 3 to 4 weeks, more in winter. And yes, the mechanic's put too much air in when they check it.
