Hey Festers!
I hope that someone can help as I am new to Bimmers. When I try to roll the pass. window down or up it will only move about an inch at a time. It has auto up & down and drops when you open door, about an inch up when you close. I have no idea if it has anything to do with any of these things or the window motor itself?
Any input would be Great!
Thank-You!

Your motor is polling (i.e. worn out - unlikely), or gunked up (likely), or the window regular needs lubricating.
The physical load is more than the system expects and it "overloads" just like it does when it hits the ends.
My driver door does it sometimes going UP. I have plans to disect and rebuild at some stage, most likely when it stops working completely.
A friend of mine had it in his XC Fairmont GXL and we pulled the motors apart and lovingly cleaned and lubed them. They came back at top speed & power.
I thought I was goign to have to replace the driver's door window regulator recently. It was weird b/c the window would go up, but it didn't go down very well. The mechanic lubricated the felt-like seal along the slot in the door that the window drops into and it works fine now.
Our regulators are often weak and this might not help you, but it costs next to nothing and doesn't make you take the door apart, so it's worth trying.

When my coupe did the same thing, this fixed the issue for me.

What a brilliant site. Can't wait to try and fix my inching window. I'll add it to the long list of little jobs that never seem to get any smaller. Fun fixing them though.

Well, I dutifully followed all of the clear instructions and.........made the problem worse.
Have now resorted to buyng a motor/regulator from the wreckers for £35 inc. p&p which Idon't think is bad.......if it works that is:(

Cheers Pirate.
I may need a little good luck, seing as I have to remove the window to fit the motor.
The motor is screwed on from behind for some stupid reason.
