Hello, I have just bought a 1993 325i auto UK spec, an absolute minter apart from one thing the check control is in German! When I bought the car I pressed the Check contol button and it came up CHECK CONTROL OK, but then after that all error messages have been in German.

The model I have is the basic eiight button, just time and date etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated otherwise its off to German lessons at night school for me!!

Cheers.

Hey buddy, welcome to the fest

That is a programming thing so you will need a local stealer to do it (or someone like me with the software) :)

A dealer will do it i am sure

no, you dont need any extra software nor a dealer. you just need to figure out the key combinations to change the language. it might be written in the manual as well, but i'm not sure.
i did this on my OBC, and now it's in nice english:
http://www.geocities.com/ebaines/language.htm
Resetting the Language If You Don't Have the Upgraded On-Board Computer (OBC)

If you have the upgraded OBC, see the E36 OBC page. Otherwise, if you have the standard computer this will work.

1. Hold the 1000 and 10 keys simultaneously
2. Press the 1 button until the display shows Funktion: 01
3. Press the Set/Res button.
4. The display will now show Sprache: 1 engl.

Well, yours will show some other language, but if you want English scroll through (by pressing the 1 button until you see: 1 engl.
you can search google as well for "OBC language" and see what comes up

hehe :P
there are different types of OBCs and you just have to find the right combination to change the language - we just had the easy combination.
i think there can be different combinations for different OBCs even if they have the same amount of buttons - the software that's on the OBCs count, not the buttons. i think if you search the google a bit, you'll find the right combination for your OBC:thumbup:
