Trying to replace my cabin microfilter and ran into a problem with the glovebox removal. I have the directions for this repair, but my system appears to be different than the basic e-36 shown. My air vent assembly was one piece, vents were fixed to the panel. This came out but was unable to remove the glovebox. All visable screws were removed. Any Ideas? Does the 1996 328ic have a different dash assembly?

If memory serves me, underneath the interior glove box light there is a bolt. Did you remove it?

You have to take the glovebox light out to get to the bolt.

yup- I just did the same thing a couple hours ago. pop the light out with a small screwdriver and then ratchet the bolt thats hiding above it - the glovebox will come right off.

Very strange. i removed mine yesterday and only had to remove four screws. two hidden in the twin passenger air vents and two near the hinge on the glove box door once I opened it. There appears to be some different assemblies for our glove boxes on the E36.

I also came across those two screws. Once they are out, the assembly comes right out.
