That's a band-aid, unless his current thermo not the right one :). Have you bled your cooling system? Are you running the correct mix of coolant? Is your radiator flowing as it should?

For optimum power and efficiency, and in the interest of longevity, your engine has to reach operating temperature as quickly as possible (with minimal load). Removing the thermostat is not beneficial unless it's to limp home. Just my $.02.

first off where is your temp gauge running?
You can always do T-stat, performance water pump like a stewart, radiator, better hoses ( not that they will do allot)....
