How hard is it to install the TPMS sensors on a e92 335i w/ sport package yourself? If so, are any special tools need to calibrate them? I am planning to buy some used tires which don't have TPMSs.

It's truly a PITA. You'll want to take it to your local tire shop and have them do it. I had all 4 done for 60 dollars.

the sensors mount inside the rims, and the tires need to be dismounted and remounted to do so, then rebalanced.

unless you have access to a RFT capable tire mounting machine, and a high speed balancer.... you cant DIY.
