We have a car meeting every month here in atlanta at a place called "The Varsity"
Anyway, I went this month and took some pictures so I figured why not share em with my E36 comrades.

Yeah definitely. I don't want to post any pics of my car until I get my headlights sorted out though. It looks terrible right now.

Very nice, wish we had that sort of thing here....
We have 'car meets', but they are full of idiots and boy racers

Oh beleive me, there were a great deal of idiots and boy racers, but i screened all those out and just brought the good stuff to the fest. Nothing but Bimmers, and that one Skyline GTS4. I realize that probably isn't interesting to the brits on the forum but those things are very rare, very banned, and highly illegal here inthe states so it was pretty to see one in person.

People need to lay off the carbon fibre or get the freaking things painted. You don't need to show off that you spent $300-1000 on a stupid hood for your car. You lost a few pounds. Awesome. You've now disrupted your car's balance some and probably haven't compensated for it in some other way. Furthermore, that $300-1000 is probably better spent in other areas.
Put the damned roundel back on, too, you tool!
Regardless, nice shots...

I for one, love unpainted carbon fiber.
And the 15 pound difference between the OE hood, and the carbon hood doesn't throw any balance off, at all.
And yes. Put the damned roundel back on.

What size rubber bands are on the first car? Surely they are not tires
hey Philip, did you find out about the seats and how much it would cost to have them fixed?

It would be fine if the car was anywhere near that colour. I think I could get away with it, since mine's Diamant-Schwarz Metallic, but I'd still never do it.
I personally think people love unpainted CF because it's a "status symbol." I'm not sure why you like it, so I'm not going to accuse you of that. I'm just saying that's how most of the rice tools from back home view it. It's like platinum grilles for gangsters.
As for the weight change not throwing off the balance, it does. It's not significant, but it does. The fifteen pound change won't be huge, especially since the rather heavy engine is right there as well, but any change in weight in one area will effect the balance because the CG will migrate.
Any time I fly, I have to run a weight and balance on the plane because the CG moves so violently. The sheet gets down to each specific instrument in the panel, all the way to how much fuel you have. It all matters.
Granted, it doesn't matter so much in a car as the CG doesn't move as much as it does in the plane, but it moves, which changes the balance.

I like unpainted carbon fiber because to me, it is the ultimate expression of form following function. I have always been the "go before show" type. I guess it's a pretty-because-it's-ugly type of thing.

I don't really understood that, but I'll stop hounding you for it.
You'd fit right in with the Architecture students here at Tech with the whole pretty-because-it's-ugly type of thing, and the use of "form folowing function."

 "To each his own" I guess.
carbon fiber is abused by ricer boys, and they think it makes there car faster. on the M3 that we saw, if he had just done the hood it would have been amazing but the trunk was overdoing it, but I WANT THOSE WHEELS! my car was parked almost directly across from his, we should have done a swap Philip!!
