Hey mate
Im from melbourne :)
It is FANTASTIC!, If you plan in living in the CBD or the actually city itself then there are alot of good cafe's, restraunts ect ect. But if you are deciding to live outside the cbd then life is very very quite, laid back and relaxed. Our roads are pretty decent so owning a sports car or bmw is awsome here!
Alot of people who own bmw's here are OWNERS. Not enthusiasts mate. Im trying to get a club going on where we can cruise and such but no luck as of yet!
Let us know if u do decide to come down under :)

ohh and beaches in melbourne are crap.. Stkilda beach is SH!T! For a good beach u have to drive abit along the great ocean road and such (awsome experience in a bmw) and then you have beaches like torquey and such. I dont know the names but they are pretty good!
Thank you for the info... I'm going through a very rough patch with the lady, so in a worst case senario I would consider moving to Melbourne... I have been writing with an HR person from Dun & Bradstreet in Melbourne and I was checking out an apartment in St Kilda along the beach actually...

I would have to ship my car but I think if the charges are the same as shipping a car to Europe it would be around $1,100 plus $200 insurance...
Also how are car insurances in Oz...:dunno: And gas...:dunno:
And of course I would join the BMW club over there, and maybe start playing some REAL Rugby again instead of the ball game they play here...:tsk:

it would not be worth shipping the car unless its that porsche in your dp. We are right hand drive.
Insurance is good. If you are a mature driver and have a good record. For me its shooking (im 17 mate)
And petrol is pretty high at about 1.30AUD a litre. I dont know how that compares to the rest of the world!
