This is long, but please bear with me.
I thought I'd got away without any damage to other electrical components when my front door window fuse committed Hari Kiri earlier this week.
How wrong was I:cry:
Unlocked the car yesterday and my driver's window lowered:yikes:
Took it to a sparky in desperation, and he looked at me as if I had asked him to give me pi to 2000 decimal places.
He couldn't trace the fault but did find that the alarm was next on my car's self-destruction list. It is after-market but had worked perfectly, until yesterday when it decided to go off on it's own and refuse to shut the fcuk up. He ended up cutting the wire to the siren:tsk:
I got it home and took the motor apart to manually raise the window [have a hint if anyone finds themselves in a similar situation with their window sticking down].
There appears to be no signal from the window control unit to the window and I suspect the control unit is bu**ered so have ordered a new[used] one.
My question, eventually, is....does anyone else think I assume right that it is my control unit, bearing in mind that it connects to the central locking unit and the alarm and all 3 are kaput?
